Following the Yellow Road - Camping in the Canola NSW is a return trip from Sydney and makes an excellent first journey for the caravanning novice.
Posing for a photo in a flowering yellow canola crop has become popular in recent years, but caravanners have long admired the beauty of these spectacular fields of gold. This itinerary takes you on a journey through some of New South Wales's best canola growing areas, where you can not only admire and photograph this incredible display, but also explore charming nearby towns and quaint villages.
Canola flowers are what turn the fields yellow, flower's gradually get thicker and brighter in August and September, which are the best months for sightseeing this specific attraction.
This itinerary makes an ideal section as part of a longer trip. The driving directions, accommodation options, timeframes, and things to see and do listed in this itinerary are all our recommendations based on over 30-years of caravanning experience – but it is ultimately your choice to decide what you do during your travels! Even though we have recommended the number of days to stay in each place, you may decide to travel faster, or stay longer.
If you don’t have a caravan, motorhome, or similar – this itinerary could still be used as most of the Accommodation Options listed also have holiday cabins!
